The Penguin Episode 4 Review

Gotham's descent into darkness continues

The fourth episode of Gotham's fifth and final season, "Penguin, Our Hero," was a dark and twisted tale that further explored the city's descent into chaos. With Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) now a fugitive and Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) consolidating his power, the episode delved into the depths of Gotham's criminal underbelly and the moral decay that has taken hold.

Much of the episode focused on Penguin's rise to power. Having taken over the remnants of the Falcone crime family, Penguin has become a ruthless and cunning kingpin. However, his ambitions are threatened by the arrival of Eduardo Dorrance (Shane West), a charismatic and ambitious mobster from Gotham's past. Dorrance challenges Penguin's authority, leading to a bloody turf war that spills over into the streets of Gotham.

Amidst the chaos, Jim Gordon finds himself on the run and desperate to clear his name. With the GCPD hunting him and his allies few and far between, Gordon is forced to rely on his wits and resourcefulness to survive. His journey takes him into the dark corners of Gotham, where he encounters a variety of unsavory characters and faces his own inner demons.
