Fatal crash in Zierikzee

Three people have died and one person is seriously injured following a crash involving three cars in Zierikzee, Zeeland.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the N59 near Zierikzee at around 8:45am on Monday, March 6, 2023.

The three people who died were travelling in one of the cars, a black Volkswagen Golf. The driver of the Golf, a 22-year-old man from Zierikzee, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two passengers in the Golf, a 20-year-old woman from Zierikzee and a 21-year-old man from Kapelle, were taken to hospital but later died from their injuries.

The driver of the second car, a 21-year-old man from Zierikzee, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the third car, a 55-year-old man from Bruinisse, was not injured.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
